The Artificial Light Texture technology* for non-contact vital signs, sleep, and activity monitoring on mobile devices
This video is a screencast of the ALT iOS app recorded on a Structure Sensor -equipped iPad.
The color of the vertical stripe on the right along with the size and the color of the circle change following the pulse and respiration of a person reclining in an armchair (see below). The scene, as captured in the Sensor’s IR video stream, is shown on the left.
The ALT technology does not use any depth data and detects vital signs for any pose of a person and when no area of skin is exposed.
The raw ALT data which correspond to the video above are shown by the black trace connecting the data points in this plot.
The blue trace in the plot highlights the respiration and the orange one highlights the heartbeats.
The ALT data collection was performed at 30 data points per second rate. The X-axis of the plot shows the data point numbers and the Y-axis shows the ALT data amplitude.
The ALT data were computed on the iPad and used in the app’s video visualization above in real time.
Note that the amplitude of the ALT data variations related to the heartbeats during an inhale/exhale cycle is lower compared to that between the respiration cycles.
Similarly, in the video above, the amplitude of the stripe and the circle color variations, and the amplitude of the circle size variations related to the heartbeats during an inhale/exhale cycle is lower compared to that between the respiration cycles.
Respiration modulates the heartbeats signal amplitude.
The plot in this video shows raw real-time ALT data collected using a Microsoft Surface tablet/laptop and an Intel RealSense D415 camera connected to it.
The heartbeats signal amplitude during the inhale/exhale sequence is smaller compared to that between the respiration cycles.
Respiration modulates the heartbeats signal amplitude.
